The backbone: wash → decontaminate → correct if needed → prep → protect → maintain
The main exterior workflow is sequential because each stage changes what the next stage is allowed to do. Dirt can hide bonded contamination. Bonded contamination can interfere with polishing. Polishing residue can hide the true finish. Protection applied over residue or unresolved defects locks in the condition you created.
| Stage | What must be true | GlassParency products that fit | What moves you onward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wash | Loose soil, road film, bugs, or maintenance contamination is still present. | Bug Xtract Bug Remover, S1 Soap (Heavy Duty), S2 Soap (PH Neutral), Rinseless Wash, Silica Waterless Wash | The surface is clean enough to judge what remains without dragging loose contamination into the next step. |
| Decontaminate | Specific bonded contamination remains after washing. | Iron Remover, Paint Decontamination Kit, Hot Spot Water Spot Remover | The contaminant is removed or the remaining mark is confirmed to be a defect rather than material sitting on the surface. |
| Correct | A real paint defect remains and a test spot shows that controlled abrasion produces worthwhile improvement. | Cut-a-Latte Cutting Compound, Espress Finish - Light Cut & Finish Polish, the GP pad range, Paint Correction & Polish Kit | The target defect has been improved to the justified level and the finish can be inspected cleanly. |
| Prep | Polishing oils or process residue must be removed before final inspection or protection. | Panel Prep | The surface is clean, dry, residue-free enough to evaluate, and ready for the chosen protection workflow. |
| Protect | The finish is in the condition you intend to preserve. | Boost Multi-Use Sealant, Graphene 365 Day Spray Coating, Ceramic Coating (50mL), Graphene Coating, Graphene Fusion Hybrid Paint Protection | The selected product has been applied according to its instructions and the vehicle can enter its maintenance cycle. |
| Maintain | Protection or a finished surface is already established and does not need a full reset. | S2 Soap (PH Neutral), S3 Ceramic Silica Soap, GP Coating Care Kit, Quick Detail Kit | Escalate only if normal maintenance no longer removes the contamination or the protection remains inconsistent after cleaning and decontamination. |
Routine maintenance route
Normal protected vehicle
Start with the least aggressive wash method that matches the actual soil load.
- Use S2 Soap (PH Neutral) for a conventional maintenance wash when the vehicle does not need a reset wash.
- Use Rinseless Wash when water use is limited and the vehicle is not carrying packed grit or mud.
- Reserve Silica Waterless Wash for genuinely light dust or fingerprints where towel contact is not being asked to move abrasive contamination.
- Use S3 Ceramic Silica Soap only when leaving silica-containing material behind is intentional. It is not the cleanest choice immediately before polishing, inspection, or a coating-prep step.
- Dry with a clean dedicated drying towel such as Twist Loop Drying Towel 1200 GSM instead of repurposing a contaminated wipe towel.
Reset before correction or protection
When maintenance chemistry is no longer enough
- If bug residue is the specific problem, target it with Bug Xtract Bug Remover before adding more contact agitation.
- If the vehicle has heavy road film and the job is a reset or pre-correction wash, S1 Soap (Heavy Duty) belongs in that stronger-cleaning lane rather than routine maintenance by default.
- If ferrous particles remain, use Iron Remover before deciding mechanical decontamination is necessary.
- Only add mechanical decontamination when the clean surface still has bonded contamination and a lubricated test area does not create unacceptable marring.
- If the surface still has actual paint defects, move to a correction test spot. If it does not, skip correction.
- After correction, use Panel Prep to remove polishing residue before final inspection or protection.
Correction is a test-spot ladder, not a shopping ladder
GlassParency offers compounds, polishes, foam, microfiber, and wool pad options, but the correct combination depends on paint hardness, defect depth, machine behavior, temperature, pad loading, and the finish left behind. Start with the least aggressive combination that can achieve the target.
| Starting role | GP options | Escalate only when |
|---|---|---|
| Finish or light correction | Espress Finish - Light Cut & Finish Polish, Yellow UroTec Polish/Finish Foam Pad | The test spot is safe and clean but leaves a defect that is still worth removing. |
| More cut | Blue UroTec Light Cut/Heavy Polish Foam Pad, Maroon UroTec Medium Cut/Heavy Polish Foam Pad, Black UroFiber Medium Cut Microfiber Pad | The milder combination has been evaluated, the pad/liquid are working correctly, heat is controlled, and the paint has enough margin for more removal. |
| Heavy correction | Cut-a-Latte Cutting Compound, Grey UroWool Heavy Cut Wool Pad | A localized or severe defect justifies the extra cut and the finish can be refined afterward without spending more paint than the visual benefit warrants. |

Protection: choose the workflow, not the buzzword
Boost, spray-applied protection, ceramic-style coating, graphene-branded coating, and hybrid protection are not automatically better or worse because of the label. Compare the preparation required, application control, cure or handling instructions, maintenance expectations, and how difficult the system is to reset when correction is needed later.
| Product | Role in the system | Decision point |
|---|---|---|
| Boost Multi-Use Sealant | Lower-commitment protection or refresh step. | Useful when the surface is already clean and a simpler protective step is the goal. |
| Graphene 365 Day Spray Coating | Spray-applied protection format. | Choose when the application workflow fits the job and the surface has been prepared to the level the product requires. |
| Ceramic Coating (50mL) | Dedicated coating application. | Use only after the finish and prep are where you want them, because correction later can alter or remove the protection. |
| Graphene Coating | Dedicated graphene-branded coating application. | Judge it by its actual application instructions and maintenance system, not the word “graphene” by itself. |
| Graphene Fusion Hybrid Paint Protection | Hybrid protection format. | Use the manufacturer workflow to decide where it sits between simpler maintenance protection and a full coating process. |
Glass branch
- Routine film or residue: start with Glass Cleaner or Zero Streak Non-Ammonia Glass Cleaner.
- Mineral contamination: move to Hot Spot Water Spot Remover only after cleaning confirms that mineral residue is actually present.
- Persistent exterior glass defect after mineral removal: evaluate Glass & Chrome Polish or Glass Polish Kit with a small test area and heat control.
- Do not treat interior aftermarket film, chips, cracks, or heat-sensitive areas as normal polishing surfaces.
Interior branch
- Routine dust and fingerprints on compatible surfaces: Wipe Down Interior Detailer.
- Heavier general soil: Multi-Use Cleaner Concentrate only after material compatibility and dilution/use instructions are established.
- Carpet or textile soil: Foaming Carpet Cleaner Aerosol with controlled moisture and extraction/wipe removal appropriate to the material.
- Leather: clean first with Leather Cleaner; use Leather Aid+ Leather Conditioner when the material and finish call for that next step.
- Protection: Interior Coating belongs after cleaning and complete residue removal, not over dirt or unknown dressings.
Wheels, tires, and trim branch
- Wheel/tire road film and old dressing: Tire & Wheel Cleaner.
- Stronger metal-focused cleaning: Wheel & Metal Cleaner only when the contamination and wheel/metal finish justify that chemistry.
- Tire finishing: Tire Dressing only after the tire is clean and dry enough for an even result.
- Weathered trim: Trim Restorer after cleaning and degreasing.
- More persistent aerosol trim coating: Trim Spray Plastic & Vinyl Aerosol Coating only when masking, overspray control, and surface prep are part of the plan.
Support tools are part of the process
Microfiber, applicators, pads, and sprayers do not replace chemistry, but they can determine whether good chemistry produces a good result. Separate towels by task, retire contaminated media, match pad aggressiveness to the test spot, and avoid treating one applicator as universal across cleaners, dressings, coatings, and polish residue.
When to stop instead of escalating
Stop when the remaining condition no longer matches the mechanism of the next product. If the mineral deposit is gone and the mark is etched paint, more mineral remover is not the answer. If a mild correction step leaves a deep isolated defect that would require disproportionate clear-coat removal, heavier correction is not automatically the answer. If a coating looks weak because it is contaminated, clean and decontaminate before deciding the coating has failed.
